A little bit of mischief and a lot of laughter and love has been left with us in the passing of our dear wife, mother, and Mema, Joan Barbara Campeau on April 27, 2023. Born on March 22, 1949, to Leo and Connie Laforet in Windsor, ON. Joan was a loving sister to Michael (Pauline), Maurice (Mary Jane), Janet (Raymond)(deceased), David (Jenny), and Don (Dawn Marie).

Joan stood out in a crowd, a heart and soul that is one in a million. A wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, dear friend, and gardener. She both carefully planted and pruned, but also threw seeds in the air to let them grow wild. Having grown up near each other, she and Lionel Campeau decided to add branches to their family trees 53 years ago, getting married and establishing roots in LaSalle, ON. There they raised Keith (Lynn), Cindy (Phil), and Kristy (Ryan). You’ll have never meet another quite like Mema, and you can see parts of her in each of her adoring grandchildren, Austin, Abigail, Sebastian, Xavier, Hazel and Violet. Lionel, and all who love Joan, will miss her baking, sense of adventure, love of games and puzzles, and walks in the trails and parks. Joan could always be relied on to be that quiet, trusted listener. We will never let go of you Joan; you are always in our hearts and dreams.

Her final days were spent at Windsor Regional Hospital – Met Campus, and the Critical Care Trauma Unit at Victoria Hospital, London, surrounded by family and caring staff. Thank you everyone who were a comfort to our family in her final days, and to all who prayed and helped us on this journey. Special thanks to Maurice and Mary Jane Laforet.
